We need to discuss assistive technology not just at the poverty level but also for the entire economic spectrum. If we do not, assistive technology will always be about charity rather than effective access.
Also, assistive technology for people with hearing loss is more than hearing aids. Hearing aids alone are not sufficient because they do mot bring sound directly to the ears. Just as in this room, assistive listening systems such as induction loops, infrared or FM systems are critical for effective access for people who are hard of hearing.
